Molding Young Talents into Cricketing Excellence

The Sri Ramachandra Water Sports Centre (SWSC) is Asia’s first floodlit rowing course. Located within the campus of Sri Ramachandra University, adjacent to the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science facility, SWSC features a 650m man-made lake that serves as an ideal venue for various water sports. It is equipped with a large boathouse and a full fleet of new fibreglass racing crafts. The water body is among the cleanest in Chennai, with artificially created fresh water that supports aquatic life.

SWSC is designed to train junior athletes, assess professional rowers, and host Sprint and Dash Rowing events. It is one of the newest rowing courses in India, utilizing clean, recycled, and treated wastewater as its source. The full lighting of the race track allows for 24×7 rowing activities, making it a unique facility.

Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, SWSC actively promotes water sports such as Rowing, Kayaking, and Canoeing. The vision is to enable Indian rowers to achieve the pinnacle of success, aiming for an Olympic medal by 2024.

The rowing centre operates as a unit of Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science (SRCSS). Rowers benefit from SWSC’s world-class facilities combined with SRCSS’s sports science expertise for enhanced performance.
